Almaty – Kazajstan
August, 2011. I arrived at my destination: the Temirdos Sports Center, a Greco-Roman wrestling training center, located on Zhambyl Street corner with Nauryzbay Batyra, a middle-class area. The entrance is a bit dingy. We crossed a large hall presided over by three unlit chandeliers. On the left is a lady selling snacks and refreshments and on the right a drowsy receptionist. After going through dark corridors we climbed stairs leading to a large gym where twenty kids are trained under the direction of Timur Serikov.
